Every Family a Domestic Church -- in Mission to the World

"What are we to do then?"
Dear Friend,

As we prepare the family for the second coming of Christ, let us reflect on the Gospel of Luke 3:10-18 for this Sunday. It was a continuation of the preaching of John the Baptist on the first coming of Christ from Last Sunday’s Gospel.

Have you ever wondered how similar is our situation today to that of the Jews when Christ first came? Sin continues to rule in our life yet see how the Loving Father keeps His covenant with us. It seems we are helpless against ourselves and that we truly need Jesus to save us whom the Father will send again. We would not know when though. As Jesus admonished His disciples, we have to be prepared.

John in the Gospel of last Sunday quoted Isaiah to "make a straight path for him to travel," meaning, "to turn from your sins." It seems the Jews then would not know how so that they asked him, "What are we to do?"

Is this the same question we would like to ask John today? Do we feel the same hopelessness to turn from sin?

As we learned from the life of the disciples with Jesus, He will surely come to those who would need Him. He will baptize us with the Holy Spirit and with fire. The question is do we recognize Him when He is in our midst?

Prayer and Reflection ~

Let us then invite Jesus to come again.

Let us request Him to open our hearts and enter our lives so that we shall have a loving heart.

A loving heart that will show that He is alive in each one of us.

A loving heart that will make us think of others to whom we can share the gifts bestowed on us, given not for us, but for those who need us.

That way, we have made a straight path for Him to travel.
