Dear Friend,
The plan of God had been revealed to the disciples. Let us imagine ourselves as one of the disciples with Jesus at the time. We just heard Jesus say:
"Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you" (John 20:21).
Now, it is the time to have a clear understanding of the Holy Spirit who is being sent to accompany each one on the Mission of Christ. Reflect on this event according to the Gospel of John 14:15-16, 23-26.
Prayer and Reflection ~
Jesus said, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments; and I will ask the Father and he will give you another Helper to be with you forever."
I will truly be a disciple of Christ if I love Him, and my following His commandments will manifest this love. And the new commandment He gave was: "Just as I loved you, you also must love one another" (John 13:34).
"If anyone loves me, he will keep my word and my Father will love him; and we will come to
him and make our home with him."
Jesus and His Father will come to me and make a home with me -- if we love one another.
Jesus will bring His peace to me, and my joy will be complete. What else can I ask for?
"From now on the Helper, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of all that I have told you."
Jesus is making sure that I will not forget anything, He is sending me a Helper, the Holy Spirit who will teach me all things I do not know now and remind me of all Jesus told me to do.
My response to all these gifts is prayer that I be with the Holy Spirit He is sending me.
I will see the Holy Spirit in the people whom He will send me and whom I am to love; and I will listen to them, to listen to the Holy Spirit.
