Renewed Integral Evangelization -- Focusing on the Family

"Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart."
Dear Friend,

The Gospel last Sunday gave us the conditions of discipleship. For the disciples to attain these conditions, Jesus invited His disciples to learn from Him.

Please read Matthew 11:25-30 to your family, who is today’s disciple of Jesus, and whom Jesus is now inviting to learn from Him.
  • "All things have been handed over to me by my Father ..." -- The things a disciple would learn from Jesus came from the Father.
  • "Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest ... For my yoke is easy, and my burden light." -- The Twelve Disciples would recall Jesus telling them, "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides." (v. 6:33) Unfortunately, man has a tendency to be concerned with worldly things, things that the Devil had tempted Jesus in the desert at the beginning of His ministry – an obsession of power, possessions, and flesh. Being concerned with things of God shall lighten the burden and make life easy, the things that Jesus would teach disciples.
  • "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves." -- Hence, this invitation from Jesus to His disciples.
Meditation ~

Jesus is an example of one who found rest even without any worldly concerns.

Despite all things that had been handed over to Him by the Father, He is meek and humble of heart.

He is meek and humble of heart because He is full of love from the Father.

Jesus treated His power as the Son, His possession of knowledge of the Father and His being Man as gifts and made use of them as expressions of God’s love.

Jesus wanted me to learn from Him about this.

Contemplation ~

Imagine yourself standing beside the disciples as Jesus teaches His disciples. Listen to His words. Search yourself. How you feel hearing His words? How will I respond to Him?

Family Response ~

Talk about how you will respond to Jesus to be able to support each other follow Him.
