Every Family a Domestic Church -- in Mission to the World |
"Turn away from your sins and be baptized, and God will forgive your sins." |
Dear Friend,
For the second Sunday of Advent, let us prepare our families for the coming of Christ through the Gospel according to Luke 3:1-6. What is Luke, the disciple of Paul, trying to teach us in this Gospel? Prepare the family to listen to the Holy Spirit. Let them sit around comfortably. Light a small candle at the middle. Request them to go through a breathing exercise (inhale slowly, pause a while before exhaling) several times. Read first this Gospel to your family. Read again slowly verses 3 to 6. Then, ask everyone if he/she can accept that he/she had sinned. Luke quoted Isaiah: Every valley must be filled up, every hill and mountain leveled off. The winding roads must be made straight, and the rough road must be made smooth. All mankind will see God’s salvation!" Prayer and Reflection ~ In a moment of silence, request everyone to examine one’s conscience through the following reflection questions (based on 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7) --
After this moment of reflection, request everyone to approach each one and say: "I forgive you!" To end the family prayer, recite together the prayer taught by the Lord. Joe & Charito
