Dear Friend,
Jesus is the Good Shepherd. The Gospel this Sunday relates how He described Himself as the Good
Shepherd to His disciples (John 10:1-10).
Please read it to your family so that everyone may know that we belong to His flock and have life more abundantly.
-
In the previous verses, the Gospel of John described how a man though born blind had life more abundantly through Jesus.
-
When the man born blind knew Jesus as the Son of Man, he believed and his joy was complete – he now has a Shepherd leading him out of his darkness.
-
In contrast, the Pharisees knew how the man born blind was healed but they would not believe – their sins remained.
-
Jesus taught His disciples that He did these things because He is the Good Shepherd who takes care of His flock.
-
His flock recognizes His voice and follows Him to pasture as the man born blind.
-
With the Good Shepherd leading the flock, each one is saved from the dangers of the world and shall live in His peace.
Meditation ~
Not knowing what is in store tomorrow is like a man born blind and living in darkness. But having a Good Shepherd leading me to pasture is living in the light.
I have to recognize and listen to His voice guiding me, telling me where to go, how to live my life.
My response to His presence as my Good Shepherd is prayer.
Contemplation ~
Request the family to respond to the presence of Jesus. Let each one find a place where one may contemplate in silence in His presence. Just request them to imagine themselves listening to His voice saying, "I came so that you might have life and have it more abundantly."
Let His peace build up in each one.
